Treasuring Children’s Desires

(2025.1.20.)

One day in June 2012, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the Joint National Meeting of the Korean Children’s Union organizations held in celebration of its 66th founding anniversary and delivered a significant speech.

After enjoying a concert together with over 20 000 delegates, he met some model KCU members and asked them what they would become when they grew up.

Two of them answered that they would become a scientist and a doctor.

Then, he asked a boy beside them about his hope.

The boy replied that he would become a soldier of the Korean People’s Army.

With a broad smile on his face, Kim Jong Un asked him again what he would become after he had been discharged.

The boy answered in high spirits that he would serve in the army all his life.

Laughing a hearty laugh, Kim Jong Un told commanding officers of the KPA to have another photograph taken with the boy.

And he looked at the boy with a beaming smile on his face.

The boy made a firm resolve to become more faithful in his studies and organizational life and reliably defend the country with a rifle of the revolution in his arms in the future, always cherishing the honour in his mind.
