Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, situated in Tongdaewon District, Pyongyang, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is an important teacher-training centre established on October 1, Juche 35 (1946).
President Kim Il Sung visited the university five times, especially on November 2, Juche 36 (1947), to indicate the way for the university to follow. He gave important instructions scores of times regarding the operation of the university.
Chairman Kim Jong Il took measures to give a facelift to the university on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the President. He provided it with a lot of valuable educational equipment and other fixtures.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un of the Workers’ Party of Korea proposed to develop the university into a centre of academic studies, an information centre, a data service centre and an online education centre so that it could provide academic guidance and support to all universities of education and teachers training colleges in the country for better management of educational affairs and scientific research.
He also suggested to make a unified system of controlling universities of education and teachers training colleges with Kim Hyong Jik University of Education as the backbone, and has granted it with all sorts of benefit.
Now the university is playing its role creditably as the pedigree establishment for the training of teachers as it is staffed with teachers with high qualifications who are able to train competent teachers of high academic and practical abilities, and as it is fully provided with admirable educational conditions and environment.
