One February day in 1984, a girl teacher was standing on a beach, seeing anxiously the frozen waterway.

She had been in the mainland during the days of winter vocation for teachers’ training. It was time for her to return to the island.

She even shed tears at the thought of her students on the island, who would be waiting nervously for her return.

All of a sudden, an official appeared and told her to get ready to go back to the island by air.

When she heard about what had happened, she felt dumbfounded.

Her story was reported to Chairman Kim Jong Il, and he took measures to send her to the island on a helicopter.

Thanks to his loving care for the younger generation and their education, a helicopter took off with a girl teacher as its only passenger.

Telling Kim Jong Il’s warm love for the rising generations, the bell for a new school term rang at the branch school on a lighthouse island at the same time as all the other schools throughout the country.
