Early in February 1950, Comrade Kim Il Sung received a report about the shortage of teachers and scholars at Kim Il Sung University and met a senior official of the university.

At that time, the university faced many problems in its work, but the most difficult one was the shortage of teachers and scholars.

The number of faculties and students was increasing to meet the requirements of the developing reality. This required more teachers and scholars.

The university took steps for all teachers to implement the educational curriculums of two or three subjects.

However, the lectures of major subjects for higher-grade students met with difficulties for the shortage of teachers and scholars.

Saying that the country is now fulfilling the two-year national economic plan for the first time in its history after having carried out the two annual national economic plans and that scientists and technicians are badly needed everywhere, Kim Il Sung stressed the need to train them as soon as possible.

He continued: The problem of teachers should be solved in such a way that those who are capable of giving lectures work in their posts, while giving lectures at the university, when necessary.

If field scientists and technicians are enrolled in giving lectures, they would teach students practical knowledge as they had scientific knowledge and practical experience.

The university should work out detailed lecture plans and inform in advance their institutions of the date and time for lectures.

Noting that he would give instructions to the Ministry of Education and other related ministries, he specified the ways to solve the problem.

Thanks to the measures taken by Kim Il Sung with an eye to the distant future of the country, the most difficult problem for the shortage of teachers and scholars at the university was solved successfully.
