Regarding Supply of School Uniforms as Most Important

(2021.7.20.)

Memories usually fade with the passage of time, but the legendary stories woven around school uniforms are etched deep on the memory of the Korean people.

On July 6, Juche 83 (1994) President Kim Il Sung called a conference of senior officials in the economic sector. While indicating the direction and ways to survive the vicious economic blockade imposed by the imperialists and improve the living standards of the people, he asked an official about the production of school uniforms.

Hearing the answer that they had already made and supplied new uniforms to kindergarten children, pupils and students, he wore a bright, happy smile.

The participants in the meeting were all moved to see the President concern himself so much with the supply of uniforms to pupils and students even in the meeting where the direction and ways of economic development of the country were discussed.

Yet none of them knew that it would be the last conference of senior officials in the economic sector presided by the President.

He set it as an invariable State policy to supply uniforms to all children in the country —that was the first policy of its kind in the world—and concerned himself so much with the matter of uniforms to the last moment of his life.

The benevolent father of all the children in the country, Kim Il Sung treasured the future of the country more than anyone else did, and left behind legendary tales of loving care for the children, which humankind had never heard of.
