One day in May 2013, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Songdowon International Children's Camp. While talking how to refashion the camp flawlessly and at the top level, he casually changed the topic to the winter camping.

It was something unexpected for the officials concerned.

They thought camping was just to do climbing, marine and other forms of outdoor activities. So camping activities had usually been arranged in warm seasons since the children's camping started in the country.

Kim Jong Un, however, had a different idea. He said: We had better choose model students from all over the country and let them enjoy winter camping in this camp while going skiing at the Masikryong Ski Resort.

If we arrange winter camping at the Songdowon International Children's Camp, it will mean the setup of a new camping system in our country.

Visiting the camp in February and April 2014 despite his tight sechedule while looking after all the national affairs he gave detailed instructions for the flawless refurbishment of the camp, saying that he would like to provide the best things in the world to the children as soon as possible.

Thanks to his wise leadership and warm affection the Songdowon International Children’s Camp developed into a children’s palace or hotel as good as anything of the kind in the world. And the inaugural ceremony took place in May 2014 in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Today the merry sounds of enjoyment of children resounding from the Songdowon International Children's Camp are indicative of the bright future of the nation, indeed.
