WPK’s policy to develop social education


Through social education out of the perimeters of campus people receive instruction in addition to organizational and systematic schooling, so social education plays no less important a role than schooling in developing education as a whole.

There are no limits in objects and ages eligible for social education, so it can offer anyone constant education throughout their life; its contents are diversified and the teaching methods and styles are varied; thus it provides people working in different fields with opportunities to improve their scientific and technical attainments effectively according to their preparedness and specific occupations.

Our country regards the combination between schooling and social education as one of the socialist methods of education and as an education policy, so the education system through the social education establishments is in well-regulated operation.

The education system managed by the social education establishments is the one that is operated by the experts from the social education establishments using facilities geared to social education.

In our country governed by the WPK’s popular policy of education, family education is given to children before the school age; schooling and social education are provided to children of school ages in good combination; and adults who work after schooling receive social education from the Party and working people’s organizations, and from the mass media.

Social education is divided into the one given by special social education establishments, the one provided by the family which is a cell of the society, and the one offered by different public information media such as the radio, TV, newspapers and magazines, and other educational means.

In our country there are many social education establishments, such as the Grand People’s Study House, the Sci-Tech Complex, museums, cinemas, exhibition houses, children’s houses, theatres, gymnasiums and stadiums; special TV education channels like Ryongnamsan TV are in service to contribute to social education.

The social education establishments in our country are providing effective social education in various styles, based on special facilities; the public edification establishments give lectures on current political news, scientific symposia, and other kinds of lectures while regularly arranging amateur activities in the fields of science, literature and arts, physical education and the like to raise the socio-political awareness and revolutionary consciousness of the students and members of society and help them have a broader range of knowledge and skills. 

Paying close attention to the work of education based on social education institutions all the time, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that social education establishments were erected at good places in the country, including schoolchildren’s palaces, schoolchildren’s halls, children’s camps and the Grand People’s Study House. And they gave wise guidance for them to be of practical importance.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that the social education establishments were reconstructed along modern lines while new ones were built as required by the new century so that the younger generations could develop their dreams and talent to their heart’s content.

Thanks to the correct educational policy and wise leadership of the Party for development of social education, our country has got modern social education bases for the rising generation all across the land, typically, the Songdowon International Children’s Camp, Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace, Mangyongdae Children’s Camp and Natural Science Museum, which contribute to education and edification of students.
